Brian Matusz

MatuszBrian Matusz debuts tonight for the Orioles.  Matusz is the highest-rated of a talented group of young pitchers in Baltimore.  He began raising eyebrows after a stellar sophomore season at the University of San Diego, and like fellow San Diego-area prospect Stephen Strasburg, he was nationally recognized for a dominating performance pitching with Team USA.  He was selected fourth in the 2008 draft, and his time in the minor leagues did nothing to make Baltimore regret their decision (Justin Smoak would have been nice, also).  Matusz is a lefty whose stuff is solid but not overwhelming.  His strength lies in solid control and a natural ability to avoid giving up big hits.  Grab him in all keeper leagues.
