Future Players: Anthony Rendon (Rice Univ.), Kenny Diekroeger (Stanford…2012 draft), Yulieski Gourriel (Cuba).
I just read some about Parker. The A’s drafted him in ’09 out of BYU in the 5th round. Last season’s numbers are intriguing…solid power and 84 walks. He arguably posted better numbers than Grant Green, even though Green had s very good year. What’s the story on his defense? The error totals (33) were high, but that doesn’t always predict everything. Nice sleeper!
I didn’t realize Arizona shifted Davidson to 1B. I always thought they would try Borcheting/Davidson at 3B, and if both look like major leaguers, Borchering would switch to 1B.
One player not mentioned.. Stephen Parker, Oakland.
Matt Davidson is playing 1B in the minors as well, maybe take him off the list and fill in Parker.
My personal favorites on this list have to be Moustakas, Cowart, Sano, Cabrera, and Olt. All will be eventual sluggers. Its pretty insane when you watch clips of Cabrera taking a kid deep at Wrigley Field at the age of 18 yrs old. That kid has crazy power!
I am a huge fan of Gourriel too, but the problem is the chances of a Gourriel defection seem pretty low. For example, his father manages his team in the National Series. Anyone who has never seen Gourriel play should tune into a webcast of a Cuban game, which are going on right now. The webcasts generally begin around 7, and you can access the stream through baseballdecuba.com. I am not a fan of Cuba itself, but the baseball games are extremely interesting.
Yulieski Gourriel I love this kid I am very exited to see him in a big league uniformhe has a lot of talent
Castellanos is a great prospect, and even though he was an expensive sign, he has the potential to be an elite power hitter. It’s amazing the Tigers were able to get Castellanos and Chance Ruffin even though they didn’t pick in the first round.
Glad to see Castellanos on here. As a Tigers fan, I’m very interested to see how he does next year and if everything goes as planned, I’m very excited to see him in a few years.
