The following is our major mid-season update to our top 100 prospect list. The players in the major leagues as of June 19, 2010 have been removed, resulting in a massive exodus of talent from the list. We will create a subsequent list listing the top 25 rookies consisting of players in the major leagues. The additions to the current list consist of recently-drafted players (who will be removed if they fail to sign), and other minor leaguers performing well this season.

Manny Machado didn’t get drafted by the Pirates. He got drafted by the Orioles. Same with Taillon. He didn’t get drafted by the Pirates. He got drafted by the Orioles.
Alex Presley is performing pretty well. .349, 7 3B, 6 HR, 5 SB. Even if it’s AA, he’s tearing it up right now.
One more thing, Michael Brantley played in the MLB, but now he’s in AAA. How does this list go? Players who have never played in the MLB or just aren’t in the MLB right now?
You are right on the Machado/Taillon typo. I had them going to Pittsburgh and Baltimore in our mock draft, and typed those teams in out of habit. One of the hardest things about typing this stuff is avoiding the accidental typos.
Presley is definitely having a good season. I’m a huge Ole Miss baseball fan, so I’m definitely familiar w/ him. He was great on the teams w/ Coghlan, Cozart, etc. My only concern is he’s already 24, so even though the numbers are awesome, I’m not sure I’d put him in the top 100. Another OF from the Pirates’ system worth watching is Quincy Latimore, whose numbers in the Florida State League look really solid. My concern w/ Latimore is the k/bb ratio still isn’t too good.
The current list doesn’t have as much “rhyme or reason” as I’d like regarding graduations. The current plan is to move all players called up onto the rookies list during the season, and during the off-season, create a prospects list listing all the players who “qualify.” The problem w/ doing traditional “graduations” when you progressively update the list is determining who has graduated (45 days, AB totals, etc) is a hassle. But it’s still a work in progress. Honestly, I had totally forgotten Brantley spent the first two weeks of 2010 in the majors.
christian friedrich is 56 and 65? flip the numbers your good? how about a rex brothers in 1 of those positions. hard thrower who projects as a major league closer( whatever projects means).
